SECOND MEETING OF SSK

The second combined meeting of SSK and IT Corner was held on 28th July in the multimedia room. The introductory speech about Free Software was done by Mr. Vimal Joseph, former student and free software activist.  Thomas Yoyaku, teacher and IT Coordinator introduced the educational applications that are handled under ICT enabled education:- the K-Tech Lab, G-periodic, Celestia, Kanagram and K-geography for a group of teachers and students.  Mr. Bijoy Mathai, mathematics teacher introduced Dr.geo, a mathematical application. Mr. Sameer Muhammed Thahir of ILUG Kochi, Mr. Sanal Kumar, JSITC also spoke on the occasion.

Howto compile and install Tuxpaint Malayalam Version

The  students  of  VHSS  IRIMPANAM  had  recently  given  a  Malayalam
interface to Tuxpaint.The localization camp  was held in the last week
of May this year.Some among  the Free Software community had suggested
some changes in its translation and it is done.So it is the right time
to publish the  changed file and write a howto  on the installation of
the localized version of Tuxpaint.

1.Download the ml.po file and tuxpaint-ml.patch file attached below.

(it is in a compressed form you have to uncompress it)

ml.po and tuxpaint-ml.patch

2.open a terminal either by right clicking or through

Applications >> Accessories >> Terminal.

Execute the following to download the source code of Tuxpaint
wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/tuxpaint/tuxpaint-0.9.21.tar.gz?download

3.Execute the following command to uncompress the downloaded Tuxpaint-0.9.21.tar.gz
tar -zxvf tuxpaint-0.9.21.tar.gz

4.Apply the tuxpaint-ml.patch (run the patch program outside the
extracted tuxpaint directory by executing the following command)

patch -p0 < tuxpaint-ml.patch

5.Copy the ml.po file to tuxpaint-0.9.20/src/po/
6.Delete the harp.wav audio file from tuxpaint-0.9.21/data/sounds/harp.wav
And download the harp.zip file from here and

extract it with archive manager and

you will get the audio file ‘harp.wav’,

and copy that to the same location.(tuxpaint-0.9.21/data/sounds/harp.wav)
7.Delete the title-tuxpaint.png and title-tuxpaint-2x.png from tuxpaint-0.9.21/data/images/
And copy the title-tuxpaint.png image from below to the same location

Rename the file as title-tuxpaint-2x.png.

Copy the image once more to the same location as title-tuxpaint.png.

Now the two deleted image files are replaced there.

8.Now we have to compile the source code of Tuxpaint.
To compile Tuxpaint you need the following packages.

You can install it either through synaptic package manager

or through the terminal by executing the following command as root
apt-get install package-name (give the names of the packages, separating

each name with a whitespace).

The required packages for Tuxpaint compilation and installation are

gcc
libgdk-pixbuf-dev
libcairo2-dev
librsvg2-dev
libxml2-dev
libpaper-dev
libpng12-dev
libsdl-pango-dev
libsdl-mixer1.2-dev
libsdl-ttf2.0-dev
libsdl-image1.2-dev
libfribidi-dev
gettext

After installing the above packages go to the tuxpaint directory (tuxpaint-0.9.21)

.If you are in home directory and if the tuxpaint-0.9.21 directory is there execute the command
cd tuxpaint-0.9.21/
Then execute the command
make
You have to wait till the process is over.Now we have to install it.

For that you have to login as root.To become root run the command
su
It will ask you for the password and give it there and now we can install it with
make install
Wait until it is installed.
Now we have to create a launcher on Desktop,

so we can open Tuxpaint by clicking on the launcher icon.
My launcher file is given below.Open gedit or any other such text
editor and copy it there and name the file as
‘tuxpaint-malayalam.desktop’and keep the file on Desktop.

The entry in the file says that I have an image file named tux.png

and it is kept in my home directory and it should be used as the desktop icon for Tuxpaint.

You can either use another image file in the same location or ignore it.

If you have to use another location you have to specify the path in the file.

The name also can be changed if you wish.
You can also download the stamps for tuxpaint from here.

So you can use flowers of Kerala as stamps in Tuxpaint.

This was a project done earlier by the students.Download the compressed file.

Make .tuxpaint (dot-tuxpaint) directory in your home and

copy the uncompressed folder ’stamps’ into it.A detailed howto in Malayalam is here.
Now click on the desktop icon and enjoy yourself.

തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറ ട്രാഫിക്ക് പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷന്റെ ആഭിമുഖ്യത്തില്‍ സ്കൂള്‍ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്കായി റോഡ് സുരക്ഷയെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് പരിശീലന ക്ലാസ് നടത്തി.  മള്‍ട്ടി മീഡിയ തിയേറ്ററില്‍ നടന്ന ക്ലാസിന് ട്രാഫിക്ക് അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് സബ്-ഇന്‍സ്പെക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കി.  ബസ്സ് യാത്രക്കിടയിലും ട്രാഫിക്ക് നിയന്ത്രണത്തിനിടയിലും കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന പരാതികളെക്കുറിച്ച് പോലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്തര്‍ ആരാഞ്ഞു.  ട്രാഫിക്ക് സുരക്ഷയെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള നിര്‍ദ്ദേശങ്ങളടങ്ങിയ ലഘുലേഖകള്‍ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് വിതരണം ചെയ്തു.  മാനേജര്‍ എം.ഐ ആന്‍ഡ്രൂസ്, പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പാള്‍ വി.എ തമ്പി എന്നിവരും സംസാരിച്ചു.  വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥിയായ റസ്സില്‍ നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞു.

SWATHANTHRA SOFTWARE SANGAMAM, 3rd Edition

VHSS Irimipanam in assosciation with Indian Libre User Group (formerly Indian Linux User Group), Kochi is proud to present the third edition (second consecutive year) of the Swathanthra Software Sangamam. This event brings together the Free Software community,teachers and students to engage all in 5 days of Knowledge sharing programmes(workshops, seminars). The focus of the five day program is the localisation of Tuxpaint, the 2D drawing application.

The students try their hand at attempting to translate the interface of the popular Free Software drawing program Tuxpaint to Malayalam. The students have decided to undertake this task after being Motivated and inspired from their previous successful attempt  at making stamps of indian flowers and fruits and integrating it into the application (images, text and voice). The changes were mailed to Bill Kendrick, the founder and lead developer of Tuxpaint in USA and it was he who suggested on localising Tuxpaint and giving it a Malayalam Interface. The contribution (stamps) of the students is expected to be included in the next official release of Tuxpaint.

Another significance of the Event is the fact that few topics covered during the classes, will be handled by children themselves. Students who have almost completed the vacation course at the Free Learning Institute, Palarivattom (www.freelearninginstitute.wordpress.com) will join the elders to handle topics they have learned themselves. Indeed Free Software will bring a dramatic change to build a self sustaining community.

The Introduction of Free Software in Schools has brought about a revolution that builds upon the social framework of Kerala a community of teachers and students who are able to think independently and devise solutions for the better of the society.

കേരളത്തിലെ പൂക്കള്‍ ടക്സ്​പെയിന്റില്‍

ചിത്രരചനയില്‍ താല്പര്യമില്ലാത്തവര്‍ക്കു കൂടി വരയ്ക്കാന്‍ തോന്നിപ്പിക്കുന്ന വിധം ആകര്‍ഷകമാണ് ടക്സ്​പെയിന്റിന്റെ ഘടന. ടക്സ്​പെയിന്റ് ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ വരച്ചിട്ടുള്ളവരെല്ലാം സ്റ്റാമ്പ് ടൂള്‍ തീര്‍ച്ചയായും ഉപയോഗിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാവണം. വിവിധ വലിപ്പത്തില്‍ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ ക്യാന്‍വാസില്‍ പതിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ സഹായിക്കുന്നതാണ് ഈ ടൂള്‍. വിവിധ സ്റ്റാമ്പുകളില്‍ ക്ലിക്കു ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍  ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ പേര് താഴെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷില്‍ എഴുതി കാണിക്കാറുണ്ടല്ലോ. ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ക്ലിക്കുചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ ശബ്ദവും കേള്‍ക്കാം. കേരളത്തിലെ പൂക്കളും പച്ചക്കറികളുമെല്ലാം ഇക്കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ. അതിനുള്ള ശ്രമമാണ് ഞങ്ങള്‍ തുടങ്ങി വയ്ക്കുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിലെ പൂക്കളും പഴങ്ങളുമെല്ലാം ടക്സ്​പെയിന്റില്‍ സ്റ്റാമ്പുകളായി ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്താനുള്ള ശ്രമം. മുക്കുറ്റിപ്പൂവിന്റെ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ക്ലിക്കു ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ മുക്കുറ്റിപ്പൂവ് എന്ന ശബ്ദം കേള്‍ക്കാം. മുക്കുറ്റി എന്ന് മലയാളത്തില്‍ എഴുതികാണിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. എന്തൊക്കെയാണിതിനു ചെയ്യേണ്ടത് ?   ചുരുക്കി സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ ഇവിടെ നിന്നും ഡൌണ്‍ലോഡു ചെയ്യുക. ആര്‍ക്കൈവ് മാനേജര്‍ (archive manager) ഉപയോഗിച്ച് അത് നിവര്‍ത്തുക.  യൂസറുടെ ഹോം ( user’s home ) ഫോള്‍ഡറിനകത്ത്  .tuxpaint ( ഡോട്ട് ടക്സ്​പെയിന്റ് ) എന്ന ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിക്കുക.(ടക്സ്​പെയിന്റ് ഉപയോഗിച്ച് മുന്‍പ് ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ വരച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹോം ഫോള്‍ഡറിനുള്ളില്‍ .tuxpaint എന്ന ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ ഉണ്ടാവും. ഹോം ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ തുറന്ന് അതിനകത്ത് ctrl  കീയും h എന്ന കീയും ഒരുമിച്ചമര്‍ത്തുക.അപ്പോള്‍ .tuxpaint എന്ന ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ ഉണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ അതു തുറക്കുക) അതു തുറന്ന് അതിനകത്ത് stamps എന്ന മറ്റൊരു ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച് അതിനകത്തേക്ക് നിവര്‍ത്തിയ ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ പകര്‍ത്തുക. ഫോള്‍ഡറിനു പേരു നല്കിയപ്പോള്‍ പേരിനു മുമ്പ് ഡോട്ട് നല്കിയതെന്തിനെന്നറിയുമോ ? ഗ്നു ലിനക്സിലെ രഹസ്യഫോള്‍ഡറുകളെല്ലാം (hidden directories ) ഡോട്ടിലാണു ( . ) തുടങ്ങുന്നത്. കീബോര്‍ഡിലെ കണ്‍ട്രോള്‍ ( control ) , എച്ച് ( h ) എന്നീ കട്ടകള്‍ അമര്‍ത്തുമ്പോള്‍ രഹസ്യഫോള്‍ഡറുകളെല്ലാം ദൃശ്യമാകുന്നു. ഒരിക്കല്‍ കൂടി ഇതേ കട്ടകളമര്‍ത്തിയാല്‍ രഹസ്യ ഫോള്‍ഡറുകളെല്ലാം അദൃശ്യമാകുന്നു. ഇനി ടക്സ്​പെയിന്റ് തുറന്ന് സ്റ്റാമ്പ് ടൂളില്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്ത് വിവിധ സ്റ്റാമ്പുകള്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ചുനോക്കൂ. നമ്മുടെ ഭാഷയും സംസ്കാരവും പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള അനവധി സാധ്യതകള്‍ ഗ്നുലിനക്സിലുണ്ട്. ആ സാദ്ധ്യതകള്‍ പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനുള്ള സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യവും നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കുണ്ട്. കുട്ടികള്‍ക്കും അദ്ധ്യാപകര്‍ക്കും സ്വതന്ത്രസോഫ്റ്റ്​വെയറിനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്കുമായി ഞങ്ങളിത് സമര്‍പ്പിക്കുന്നു.

ചുരുക്കത്തില്‍
1.മുകളില്‍ കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന “ഇവിടെ ” എന്ന ലിങ്കില്‍ നിന്നും ഫയല്‍ ഡൌണ്‍ലോഡു ചെയ്യുക.
2.ഡൌണ്‍ലോഡു ചെയ്ത ഫയലില്‍ Rightclick ചെയ്യുക
3.Open with Archive Manager സെലക്ട് ചെയ്യുക.
5.അപ്പോള്‍ തുറന്നുവരുന്ന ജാലകത്തിലെ “EXTRACT”ബട്ടണില്‍ ക്ലിക്കു ചെയ്യുക.
6.നിങ്ങളുടെ Home ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ തുറന്ന് .tuxpaint എന്ന ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിക്കുക
7.അതിനകത്തേക്ക് Extract ചെയ്തപ്പോള്‍ കിട്ടിയ stamps എന്ന ഫോള്‍ഡര്‍ കോപ്പി ചെയ്യുക.
8.ഇനി ടക്സ്​പെയിന്റ് തുറന്ന്  stamps ല്‍ ക്ലിക്കു ചെയ്തോളൂ. പുതിയ സ്റ്റാമ്പുകള്‍ അവിടെയുണ്ടാകും.

സോഫ്റ്റ്​വെയര്‍ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യദിനം

സോഫ്റ്റ്​വെയര്‍ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ഉയര്‍ത്തിപ്പിടിക്കുന്ന വിവിധ സംഘടനകള്‍ സംയുക്തമായി ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തെ സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്​വെയര്‍ ദിനാഘോഷം കളമശേരി രാജഗിരി കോളേജില്‍ വെച്ച് സെപ്റ്റംബര്‍ 17 -ന് ആചരിച്ചു.  ഇതോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് നടന്ന എക്സിബിഷനില്‍

ഇരുമ്പനം സ്കൂളിലെ SSK(swathanthra software koottayma) യും പങ്കെടുത്തു.സ്കൂള്‍ കുട്ടികളുടെ പ്രകടനം പ്രത്യേക പ്രശംസ പിടിച്ചുപറ്റി.

അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര സൈബര്‍ സുരക്ഷാ വാരാഘോഷത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് കൊച്ചി സൈബര്‍ പോലീസ് സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച മൂന്ന് ദിവസം നീണ്ട ദേശീയ സൈബര്‍ സുരക്ഷാ സെമിനാറില്‍ സ്കൂളിലെ “സ്വതന്ത്ര സോഫ്റ്റ്​വെയര്‍ കൂട്ടായ്മയിലെ” അംഗങ്ങളായ അധ്യാപകരും വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികളും സജീവമായി പങ്കെടുത്തു.  ദേശീയ തലത്തില്‍ നടന്ന ഓണ്‍ലൈന്‍ പോസ്റ്റര്‍ കോമ്പറ്റീഷനില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത സ്കൂളിലെ എട്ടാം ക്ലാസ്സ് വിദ്യാത്ഥിയായ അഭിനവ് തോമസ് രണ്ടാം സ്ഥാനവും അധ്യാപകനായ തോമസ് യോയാക്ക് മൂന്നാം സ്ഥാനവും കരസ്ഥമാക്കി. ആഗസ്റ്റ് എട്ടാം തിയതി  നടന്ന സൈബര്‍ സുരക്ഷാ എക്സിബിഷനില്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികളായ റിമല്‍ മാത്യു, അഭിനവ് തോമസ്, മനു സി കൌമ, കുര്യന്‍ ജോര്‍ജ്, അമല്‍, വിവേക് എന്നിവരും അധ്യാപകരായ തോമസ് യോയാക്ക്, സനല്‍ കുമാര്‍ എന്നിവരും പങ്കെടുത്തു. യൂസര്‍ അധിഷ്ടിതമായ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ സുരക്ഷ, മലയാളം കമ്പ്യൂട്ടിങ്, അന്യ ഭാഷാ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മലയാളത്തില്‍ സബ്ടൈറ്റിലുകള്‍ നല്‍കുന്നവിധം, ടെക്സ്റ്റ് ഫയലുകളെ ശബ്ദമാക്കി മാറ്റുന്ന “ധ്വനി”, എന്നിവ കൂടാതെ കമ്പൂട്ടറിന്റെ ഹാര്‍ഡ്​വെയര്‍ ഭാഗങ്ങളുടെ പ്രദര്‍ശനവും സ്കൂളിന്റെ സ്റ്റാളില്‍ ഒരുക്കിയിരുന്നു. കാണികളുടെ തിരക്കുകൊണ്ടും വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികളുടെ അവതരണ പാടവം കൊണ്ടും  ഏറ്റവും ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ സ്റ്റാള്‍ എന്ന അഭിപ്രായവും സ്കൂളിന്റെ സ്റ്റാള്‍ നേടി.

ഹാര്‍ഡ്​വെയര്‍ പരിശീലനവും ക്ലിനിക്കും നടത്തി.

ഇരുമ്പനം സ്കൂള്‍ ഐ.ടി കോര്‍ണറിന്റെയും SSK-യുടെയും ILUG-ന്റെയും സമ്യുക്ത ആഭിമുഖ്യത്തില്‍ 19-6-2009 വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ഇരുമ്പനം ഹൈസ്ക്കൂളില്‍ വെച്ച് ഹാര്‍ഡ്​വെയര്‍ പരിശീലനം നടത്തി. ILUG പ്രവര്‍ത്തകനായ ഐ.ബി.മനോജ് , ഐ.ടി കോര്‍ഡിനേറ്റര്‍ തോമസ് യോയാക്ക് എന്നിവര്‍ പരിശീലനത്തിന് നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കി. എട്ടാം ക്ലാസ്സ് വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികളായ അഭിനവ് തോമസ്, മനു സി കൗമ, അഭിജിത് പി കെ, ജോയല്‍ ടോമി, വിവേക് പി എഫ്, മൈക്കിള്‍ ഡാനിയേല്‍, ജിബിന്‍ ജയിംസ്, സുജിത് എസ് കുമാര്‍, ജോമോന്‍ ജോയി, അരുണ്‍ പി ജി, രാഹുല്‍ പി ജി, ആഷിന്‍ ജോണ്‍ മാത്യു, വിഷ്ണു ഇ എസ് എന്നിവര്‍ പരിശീലനത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. ഇതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തനരഹിതമായിരുന്ന അഞ്ച് കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകള്‍ കുട്ടികള്‍ കേടുപാടുകള്‍ തീര്‍ത്ത് പ്രവര്‍ത്തനക്ഷമമാക്കി.

പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്യാമ്പ് ശ്രദ്ധേയമായി

2008-2009 അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തെ പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്യാമ്പ് മെയ് 12, 13, 14 തിയതികളില്‍ വിപുലമായ പരിപാടികളോടെ നടന്നു. ക്യാമ്പില്‍ 40 കുട്ടികള്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു.
ഉദ്ഘാടന സമ്മേളനം
പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പാള്‍ വി. എ. തമ്പിയുടെ അധ്യക്ഷതയില്‍ കൂടിയ സമ്മേളനം കൃഷ്ണവേണി, പൂജ കൃഷ്ണന്‍ എന്നിവരുടെ പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനയോടെ ആരംഭിച്ചു. പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്ലബ്ബിന്റെ കോര്‍ഡിനേറ്റര്‍ ബിജോയ് മത്തായി സ്വാഗതം ആശംസിച്ചു. ‘കേരളത്തിലെ കാവുകള്‍’ എന്ന വിഷയത്തില്‍ ഡോക്ടറേറ്റ് നേടിയ മാങ്കുളം D.F.O ശ്രീ. എന്‍. സി. ഇന്ദുചൂഡന്‍ ക്യാമ്പിന്റെ ഉദ്ഘാടനം നിര്‍വഹിച്ചു. PTA പ്രസിഡന്റും, വാര്‍ഡ് മെമ്പറുമായ ചന്ദ്രന്‍ കുന്നപ്പള്ളി, ശ്രീമതി ദീപ ടീച്ചര്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ ആശംസ അര്‍പ്പിച്ചു. മറിയ വര്‍ഗീസ് നന്ദി പ്രകാശിപ്പിച്ചു.

‘പെരിയാര്‍ റിവര്‍ കീപ്പര്‍’ ആയ ശ്രീ.വി.ഐ ജോസ് ആണ് അടുത്ത സെഷന്‍ നയിച്ചത്. പെരിയാര്‍ മലിനമായതിന്റ ചരിത്രവും, പെരിയാരിന്റെ ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ അവസ്ഥയും, പെരിയാര്‍ സംരംക്ഷണത്തിനായുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളും, ഒരു slide show പ്രദര്‍ശനത്തിലൂടെ കുട്ടികളെ ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്തി. ക്ലാസിനെപ്പറ്റി ഒരു ചര്‍ച്ചയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. 1 മണിക്ക് ഭക്ഷണത്തിനായി പിരിഞ്ഞു.

ഭക്ഷണത്തിനു ശേഷം, BPCL ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായ ശ്രീ. ജയരാമന്‍ സാര്‍ ഊര്‍ജ സംരക്ഷണത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് വിശദമായി സംസാരിച്ചു. സ്വന്തം വീട്ടില്‍ ചെയ്ത് ശീലിക്കുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ പിന്നീട് കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് സ്വന്തം ജീവിതത്തില്‍ പകര്‍ത്താന്‍ സാധിക്കുന്നതായി അദ്ദേഹം സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു. 3 മണിക്ക് ഈ ഭാഗം അവസാനിച്ചു.
കരയിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ജീവിയായ ആനയോട് മനുഷ്യന്‍ കാണിക്കുന്ന ക്രൂരതകള്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്ന ‘THE 18TH ELEPHANT’ എന്ന ഹ്രസ്വചിത്രപ്രദര്‍ശനമാണ് പിന്നീട് നടന്നത്. തുടര്‍ന്ന് ചിത്രത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സംവിധായകന്‍ ശ്രീ. പി. ബാലന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ നടന്നു. മനുഷ്യന്‍ ആനകളോട് കാണിക്കുന്ന ക്രൂരതകളുടെ രംഗങ്ങള്‍ ഹൃദയ ഭേദകമായിരുന്നു. 4.30-ന് ഒന്നാം ദിവസത്തെ പരിപാടികള്‍ സമാപിച്ചു.

ക്യാമ്പിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ദിവസം ​എറണാകുളത്തെ ‘മംഗളവനത്തില്‍’ വെച്ചാണ് നടത്തിയത്. 40 കുട്ടികളും ബിജോയി മത്തായി, തോമസ് യോയാക്ക്, സുനിത ചിന്നന്‍ എന്നീ അധ്യാപകരും അടങ്ങുന്ന സംഘം 9 മണിയോടെ മംഗളവനത്തില്‍ എത്തി. അവിടത്തെ കണ്ടല്‍ക്കാടുകള്‍ കുട്ടികള്‍ നടന്ന് കണ്ടു. വലിയ ഉയരത്തിലുള്ള വാച്ച് ടവറില്‍ കയറിയ കുട്ടികളും അധ്യാപകരും ബൈനോക്കുലര്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് പക്ഷികളെ നിരീക്ഷിച്ചു. പല തരം കൊക്കുകള്‍, ജല പക്ഷികള്‍, കാട്ടുകോഴി, വലിയ തരം വവ്വാലുകള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവയെ വളരെ അടുത്തെന്നപോലെ കാണാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു.

11.30-ന് പെരിയാര്‍ മലിനീകരണ വിരുദ്ധ സമിതിയുടെ നേതാവ് ശ്രി. ഏലൂര്‍ പുരുഷന്‍ പെരിയാറിന്റെ
മലിനീകരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ദീര്‍ഘമായി സംസാരിച്ചു. വളരെയധികം വിജ്ഞാനപ്രദമായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭാഷണം. തുടര്‍ന്ന് സംസാരിച്ച ജേക്കബ് ലാസര്‍ സാര്‍, പരിസ്ഥിതി സംരക്ഷണത്തിനായി നമുക്ക് സ്വീകരിക്കാവുന്ന ലഘുവായ മാര്‍ഗ്ഗങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് സംസാരിച്ചു.

പായസമടക്കം വിഭവ സമൃദ്ധമായിരുന്നു മംഗളവനത്തിലെ ഉച്ചഭക്ഷണം

അടുത്ത സെഷന്‍ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തത് മൂവാറ്റുപുഴ നിര്‍മല കോളേജിലെ റീഡറായ ഡോ.ഷാജു തോമസ് ആയിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം ജൈവ വൈവിധ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സംസാരിച്ചു. 3മണിക്ക് ശ്രീ.കീര്‍ത്തികുമാര്‍ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്കായി കുറച്ച് കളികള്‍ നടത്തിയത് അവര്‍ നന്നായി ആസ്വദിച്ചു. 4 മണിക്ക് മംഗള വനത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് തിരിച്ചു. 5 മണിക്ക് സ്കൂളില്‍ എത്തി.

മൂന്നാം ദിവസം രാവലെ 10ന് ‘നാഷണല്‍ ടെക്നോളജി ഡേ’ ആഘോഷിച്ചു. തൃശൂര്‍ കേരള വര്‍മ്മ കോളേജിലെ prof.രവികുമാര്‍ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറിന്റെയും, ഇന്റര്‍നെറ്റിന്റെയും അനന്ത സാധ്യതകളെപ്പറ്റി ചര്‍ച്ച ചെയ്തു. ‘ടെക്നോളജി ഡേ’ ഉല്‍ഘാടനവും അദ്ദേഹം തന്നെ നിര്‍വഹിച്ചു.
മൂവാറ്റുപുഴ നിര്‍മലയിലെ prof.എ.ജി ബാബു നാട്ടു, വന്യ മൃഗങ്ങളോടു കാണിക്കുന്ന ക്രൂരതകളെക്കുറിച്ച് ചര്‍ച്ച ചെയ്തു. ഉച്ച ഭക്ഷണം സമൃദ്ധമായിരുന്നു.

തൃശൂരില്‍ നിന്നുംവന്ന DFO ആഗോളതാപനത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് വിശദമായി ക്ലാസെടുത്തു. അടുത്ത സെഷന്‍ വന്യജീവി ഗവേഷകന്‍ Dr.പി. എസ്. ഈസാ വന്യജീവി സംരക്ഷണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും, വിവിധ തരം വന്യജീവികളെക്കുറിച്ചും ഒരു slideന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ സംസാരിച്ചു.

സമാപന സമ്മേളനത്തില്‍ പ്രന്‍സിപ്പല്‍ വി.എ തമ്പി, ചന്ദ്രന്‍ കുന്നപ്പള്ളി എന്നിവര്‍ സംസാരിച്ചു. ബിജോയി സാര്‍ നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞു.

നാല് മണിയോടെ ക്യാമ്പ് സമംഗളം പര്യവസാനിച്ചു.
