Nation’s 64th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the school. Manager Mr. M.I.Andrews hoisted the Indian tricolour. Students in groups sang patriotic songs. There was a marvelous P.T Display by the students of UP classes. Scouts and Red cross volunteers conducted a march past. The public meeting was presided over by the Manager. The Principal Mr.V.A. Thampi, Mr. Baby Abraham, teacher, PTA President,school leader and chairperson spoke about the value of freedom and the struggles and sufferings we had to suffer for attaining it. Smt. A.J.Suja , Staff secretary expressed vote of thanks. Sweets were distributed to children.

The second combined meeting of SSK and IT Corner was held on 28th July in the multimedia room. The introductory speech about Free Software was done by Mr. Vimal Joseph, former student and free software activist. Thomas Yoyaku, teacher and IT Coordinator introduced the educational applications that are handled under ICT enabled education:- the K-Tech Lab, G-periodic, Celestia, Kanagram and K-geography for a group of teachers and students. Mr. Bijoy Mathai, mathematics teacher introduced Dr.geo, a mathematical application. Mr. Sameer Muhammed Thahir of ILUG Kochi, Mr. Sanal Kumar, JSITC also spoke on the occasion.

മഴക്കാലത്ത് വ്യാപിക്കുന്ന പന്നിപ്പനി, ഡെങ്കിപ്പനി. ചിക്കുന്ഗുനിയ തുടങ്ങിയ രോഗങ്ങള്ക്കെതിരെ പ്രചാരണവുമായി മുളന്തുരുത്തി ബ്ലോക്ക് പഞചായത്തിന്റെയും തിരുവാങ്കുളം ഗ്രാമ പഞ്ചായത്തിന്റെയും പ്രാധമീക ആരോഗ്യകേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെയും സംയുക്താഭിമുഖ്യത്തില് സ്കൂളില് കിറ്റി ഷോ നടന്നു. ഇതോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് നടന്ന പൊതു സമ്മേളനത്തില് പഞ്ചായത്തംഗങ്ങള്, മെഡിക്കല് ഒാഫീസര്, പ്രന്സിപ്പാള് എന്നിവര് സംസാരിച്ചു. കുട്ടികള്ക്ക് ഏറെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട കിറ്റിയുടെ പ്രകടനത്തിലൂടെ പരിസര ശുചീകരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും രോഗപ്രതിരോധ മാര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും ഏവര്ക്കും മനസ്സിലാകുന്ന രീതിയില് സരസമായി അവതരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

BE CAREFUL ON THE ROAD.....
തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറ ട്രാഫിക്ക് പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷന്റെ ആഭിമുഖ്യത്തില് സ്കൂള് കുട്ടികള്ക്കായി റോഡ് സുരക്ഷയെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് പരിശീലന ക്ലാസ് നടത്തി. മള്ട്ടി മീഡിയ തിയേറ്ററില് നടന്ന ക്ലാസിന് ട്രാഫിക്ക് അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് സബ്-ഇന്സ്പെക്ടര്മാര് നേതൃത്വം നല്കി. ബസ്സ് യാത്രക്കിടയിലും ട്രാഫിക്ക് നിയന്ത്രണത്തിനിടയിലും കുട്ടികള്ക്ക് ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന പരാതികളെക്കുറിച്ച് പോലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്തര് ആരാഞ്ഞു. ട്രാഫിക്ക് സുരക്ഷയെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള നിര്ദ്ദേശങ്ങളടങ്ങിയ ലഘുലേഖകള് കുട്ടികള്ക്ക് വിതരണം ചെയ്തു. മാനേജര് എം.ഐ ആന്ഡ്രൂസ്, പ്രിന്സിപ്പാള് വി.എ തമ്പി എന്നിവരും സംസാരിച്ചു. വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥിയായ റസ്സില് നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞു.

തങ്കപ്പന് മുഖ്യാതിഥി ആയിരുന്നു. നവാഗതരെ താലപ്പൊലിയേന്തിയ പെണ്കുട്ടികള് കുരവയിട്ട് സ്വീകരിച്ചു. തുടര്ന്ന് നടന്ന സമ്മേളനം പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഉത്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. കുട്ടികള് സ്വാഗതഗാനം പാടി. മാനേജര് എം ഐ. ആന്ഡ്രൂസ്, പ്രിന്സിപ്പാള് വി.എ. തമ്പി, പി.ടിഎ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ചന്ദ്രന് കുന്നപ്പള്ളി എന്നിവര് സംസാരിച്ചു. പഞ്ചായത്തിന്റെ ആഭിമുഖ്യത്തിലുള്ള ലഡു വിതരണം നടത്തി. അധ്യാപകനായ തോമസ് നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞു.

UNESCO Team observes computer assembling
As part of the International seminar on Public software conducted at Le Meridian, Kochi, from 27th to 29th May 2010, a team of the delegates from UNESCO, SAARC countries and the different states of India visited VHSS IRIMPANAM on 27th May 2010. It is purely counting on the Free Software based activities conducted by the school, that our school has been selected for evaluating the implementation of ICT based education in the schools of Kerala. The team arrived at the school at 9.30 AM. They were welcomed with ‘thalappoli’ and ‘kurava’. IT joint co-ordinator Snalkumar welcomed the delegates. IT cordinator Thomas Yoyaku explained about the commendable activities done in the school. School manager and Principal also spoke on the occation. The delegates had an interaction with IT@School authorities also. They visited the computer lab and witnessed the activities demonstrated to them. An ICT based demonstration class in science is also shown to them. All the delegates appreciated the activities done by the school. A computer assembling demonstration by 7th standard students , the school website. tuxpaint localization. malayalam computing, sub-titling of films etc were some of the activities that were commented ‘remarkable’ by the delegates. The delegates left the school after a delicious lunch.

ഈ വര്ഷത്തെ വാര്ഷികാഘോഷ പരിപാടികള് വിപുലമായ പരിപാടികളോടെ നടന്നു. ശ്രീ. ജോസ് കെ. മാണി M.P.മുഖ്യാതിഥി ആയിരുന്നു. മാനേജര് ശ്രീ. ആന്ഡ്രൂസ്, പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ശ്രീ. തങ്കപ്പന്, പി.ടി.എ.പ്രസിഡന്റ് ശ്രീ. ചന്ദ്രന്, ബ്ലോക്ക് പഞ്ചായത്ത് മെമ്പര് ശ്രീമതി. ചന്ദ്രികാദേവി തുടങ്ങിയവര് സംസാരിച്ചു. പ്രിന്സിപ്പാള് വി.എ. തമ്പി റിപ്പോര്ട്ട് അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. പാഠ്യ, പാഠ്യേതര രംഗങ്ങളില് മികവ് തെളിയിച്ചവര്ക്ക് അവാര്ഡുകള് നല്കി. കുട്ടികളുടെ കലാപരിപാടികള് ആഘോഷത്തിന് നിറവേകി.

സ്കൂളിലെ 42 വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികളും 5 അധ്യാപകരുമടങ്ങുന്ന സംഘം പഠനയാത്രയുടെ ഭാഗമായി വയനാട് സന്ദര്ശിച്ചു. അവിടുത്തെ പ്രധാന ആകര്ഷണങ്ങളായ തോല്പ്പെട്ടി, തിരുനെല്ലി ക്ഷേത്രം, കുറുവാ ദ്വീപ്, സൂചിപ്പാറ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം, ഇടക്കല് ഗുഹ, കാരാപ്പുഴ ഡാം തുടങ്ങിയ സ്ഥലങ്ങള് രണ്ട് ദിവസം നീണ്ട യാത്രക്കിടയില് സംഘം സന്ദര്ശിച്ചു. തോല്പ്പെട്ടി വനത്തിനുള്ളിലൂടെ 25 കിലോമീറ്ററോളം ജീപ്പില് സഞ്ചരിച്ച കുട്ടികള്ക്ക്, കാട്ടാന, കാട്ടുപോത്ത്, വിവിധ തരം കുരങ്ങുകള്, മയില് തുടങ്ങിയ വന്യ മൃഗങ്ങളെ അടുത്ത് കാണാന് കഴിഞ്ഞു. അതിപുരാതനമായ തിരുനെല്ലി ക്ഷേത്രവും സമീപത്തെ പാപനാശിനിപ്പുഴയും കുട്ടികള്ക്ക് ഹൃദ്യമായ അനുഭവമായി. കുറുവാദ്വീപിലേക്ക് ഒഴുക്കുള്ള പുഴയിലൂടെയുള്ള ബോട്ടുയാത്ര സാഹസീകത നിറഞ്ഞതായിരുന്നു. സൂചിപ്പാറ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടത്തിന്റെ വശ്യമായ
വന്യഭംഗി ഒരിക്കലും മറക്കാന് കഴിയില്ല. ചരിത്രം ഉറങ്ങുന്ന ഇടക്കല് ഗുഹയിലേക്കുള്ള പ്രവേശനം കഠിനമായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും അതിനുള്ളിലെ ശിലാലിഖിതങ്ങളും കൊതിപ്പിക്കുന്ന തണുപ്പും അവിസ്മരണീയമായ അനുഭവമായിരുന്നു.
